Disbursements in June 2021

In June 2021, Producer Rights Denmark (PRD) distributes rights revenue for 2020  relating to the two business areas Retransmission basic (REB) and Retransmission commercial (REK) to producers and owners of producers' rights. The rights revenue for Film in Schools (FIU) for 2020 has already been paid out in May.

About the disbursements
The amounts disbursed for 2020 are generally lower than the corresponding disbursements from June last year for 2019. This is due to a number of factors, including the fact that consumers have an increased tendency to opt out of cable packages ("cable cutting") or opt out of large TV packages in favor of smaller TV packages ("cable shaving"). In particular, it has had an impact that Discovery's channels are no longer included in Yousee's (Nuuday) TV packages, which has led to the loss of many Yousee customers. Unfortunately, Yousee's competitors (Stofa, Waoo, etc.) have not been able to attract the Yousee customers who opt out.

In 2020, however, there has been an increase in the number of households with TV packages, where streaming services are included along with TV channels of the consumer's choice ("Mix yourself" products), which is of course positive in the long run. However, as this is a new product and thus a new category of rights income, the payment awaits agreement on the distribution key among the various rights holder groups. Once the distribution key is in place, disbursement will be made, but it is currently difficult to estimate when this will happen.

Follow-up disbursements from previous years
In June, disbursements are made from abroad regarding several years, and as usual follow-up disbursements are made for previous years across all business areas. Follow-up disbursements regarding retransmission and digital services are made for 2018 and 2019. The administration fee for 2018 is 6%, and for 2019 the administration fee is 5%.

Deductions
From 1 January 2021, the administration costs will be taken as a deduction from the top before disbursements to members and rights holders. The deduction for adminstration is made on the basis of a cost budget approved by the board, and the total administration percentage will be stated in the organisation's transparency report 2021. Invoicing is thus no longer made for each individual disbursement.

Distribution details
All rights holders who receive payment will also receive detailed information in an email. The basis for the distribution is available via MitPRD

Next disbursement
In September 2021, disbursements will be made for the business areas TV programmes for educational purposes (TVU) and DR Archive (DRA) as well as follow-up disbursements across all areas.
